The City of Burlington invites General Contractors to submit pre-qualification information for the Completion of Brant Street Pier Project, located at the base of Brant Street intersecting Lakeshore Rd.
The information package RPQ-11-01, contains detailed Instructions to Proponents for this prequalification process, including background and descriptive information.
The value of the work under the proposed contract is estimated to be between $4 million and $6 million. Tender materials will only be available to prequalified contractors in mid-July 2011, and a contract award is anticipated to occur in late September 2011. Substantial completion is required by April 30, 2013.
In 2002, the City of Burlington approved a plan to enhance the Downtown Waterfront. Improvements included upgrades to Lakeshore Road, attractive entrance features, the development of a Waterfront Centre, a water feature and playground, a combined retail, office and parking building on Locust Street, Performing Arts Centre, and the Brant Street Pier.
Most of the Waterfront projects are now completed with the exception of the Brant St Pier. When completed, the Brant Street Pier, at the foot of historic Brant Street, will be a major public amenity on Lake Ontario.

The City of Burlington (Owner) anticipates requesting Stipulated Price Tenders for the construction of the Brant Street Pier Completion Project located at the base of Brant Street intersecting Lakeshore Rd in Burlington, ON. The Owner intends to pre-qualify up to eight (8) General Contractors for this project. ONLY FIRMS THAT HAVE BEEN PRE-QUALIFIED WILL BE INVITED TO SUBMIT A BID. For the purpose of this Pre-qualification, General Contractors are referred to as Proponents. Pre-qualification submissions are requested from interested Proponents. Proponents responding to this request for pre-qualification shall be able to demonstrate that they have completed projects of a similar nature and/or scale.
Active or pending litigation against the City by a vendor will prevent consideration of any bid submitted by that vendor.

METHODS OF PAYMENT:

The City of Burlington is not responsible for delivery delays via courier or mail.
