SCOPE OF PROJECT – RFP-11-18, Engineering Consulting Services for the Rehabilitation and Repair of the Wolf Island Bridge Deck

 

The City of Burlington requires engineering consulting services for the rehabilitation and repair of the Wolf Island Bridge deck. The structure is located on Plains Road, 0.4 km. west of Botanical Drive. The structure is a thin reinforced concrete slab on precast concrete box girders which was built in 1973.

 

The following rehabilitation work needs to be performed on the structure:

·         Route and seal all asphalt cracks,

·         Remove the existing transverse expansion joints and replace with new joint assemblies, including repairs to the top of the ballast walls,

·         Remove the joint seal in the longitudinal joint in the median and install new water tight seal,

·         Remove deteriorated concrete on the median and sidewalks and patch with new concrete, and

·         Repair deteriorated concrete in the ends of the girders, diaphragms, deck soffit and abutments

 

The work will be divided into four phases.

They are:

1) – develop and design construction drawings

2) – prepare the construction tender request document, including unit price schedule, special provisions, proposed construction schedule, etc.

And, during the construction phase, anticipated for Fall, 2011,

3) - attend pre-construction and weekly site meetings

4) – provide construction inspection and contract administration services

 

The selected Consultant will be required to obtain all required approvals, and coordinate phasing and construction activities.

METHODS OF PAYMENT:

 

Payment by credit card is required for documents available electronically.  If picking up the document in person, the City will accept cash, cheque, Interac, MasterCard, Visa and American Express.   Cheques are to be made payable to The Corporation of the City of Burlington.   Documents will not be released until payment is received.   The City of Burlington is not responsible for delivery delays via courier or mail.
