OSIM Bridge & Culvert Consulting Services
The City of Burlington is seeking the services of a structural engineering consulting firm to carry out detailed visual inspection and assessment of all City-owned structures within the road right-of-way as well as footbridges located in City parks.
The successful proponent is expected to inspect and assess all structures in accordance with the revised Ontario Structures Inspection Manual (OSIM) dated November 2003.
The City is currently utilizing the Ministry of Transportation’s Ontario Bridge Management System (OBMS). The City plans to continue to use the OBMS to maintain inventory and inspection data for each structure under the City’s jurisdiction.
The work to be carried out by the Consultant will involve the detailed visual inspection of bridge and culvert structures in the City of Burlington and input of all relevant data into OBMS. This includes updating of previously inspected structures in OBMS as well as the definition of the structures not previously inspected.
This assignment includes the requirement to compare and verify the information obtained from drawings with observations in the field. The Consultant shall note and record any such discrepancies and update the OBMS bridge file accordingly.
The timeframe for this work will be from late August to late November, 2012.
